Our Executive Committee
A community-run centre.
Cygnet Community Children’s Centre is proudly community-run, supported by a volunteer committee made up of parents and local community members.
This model helps keep our centre connected to the families we support, while ensuring we continue to provide a safe, welcoming, and high-quality environment for children.
Why a committee?
As a not-for-profit service, our centre is guided by a committee that helps support its ongoing operation and future direction.
In a close-knit community like ours, this means decisions are made with local families in mind, and the centre continues to reflect the needs and values of the people who use it.
What does the committee do
The committee works alongside the Centre Director to support the overall running of the centre.
While the Director and educators manage the day-to-day care and education, the committee focuses on the bigger picture — helping to ensure the centre remains well-supported, sustainable, and aligned with our values.
This includes:
Supporting the Centre Director
Overseeing finances and planning for the future
Reviewing and approving policies
Helping maintain a safe and supportive environment
Staying connected with families and the wider community
Who are we?
Our committee is made up of local volunteers — often parents and caregivers — who bring a range of skills and experiences, along with a shared care for the centre.
Roles typically include President, Treasurer, Secretary, and General Members, with everyone contributing to decisions and supporting the centre together.
